MANILA, Philippines – Most scholarships reward your past. This one invests in your future and asks you to show up for it.
The Aboitiz Future Leaders Scholarship Program has been running since 2000, and as of April 2026, it has supported 1,212 scholars and granted over ₱66 million in scholarships for high school and college students.
In the Philippines, it’s one of the most career-integrated private scholarship programs available: you don’t just get funding, you get mentorship, leadership development sessions, and a real internship inside the Aboitiz Group.
There’s one key requirement that catches a lot of students off guard: this scholarship is only for incoming sophomore students. Freshmen and continuing students beyond second year cannot apply. If you just finished your first year at one of the 9 partner universities, now is your window.
What do Aboitiz scholars receive?
- Full Tuition Fee
- Monthly Allowance
- Academic Excellence Incentive
- Latin Honor Incentive
- Board Topnotcher Incentive
- Learning Development Sessions
One important note on coverage: the scholarship does not cover extended semesters due to shifting, delays, or personal decisions. It covers only the standard program duration plus intersession terms that are officially required in your curriculum.
What is expected from scholars in return?
There is no return-of-service requirement after graduation but scholars are expected to:
- Maintain good academic standing and moral character
- Participate in leadership development activities and Foundation-led events
- Complete a mandatory 400-hour internship within the Aboitiz Group’s business units
The internship is the most significant commitment. Four hundred hours is roughly 10 weeks of full-time work and it’s inside one of the Philippines’ largest conglomerates, which includes businesses in power, banking, food, real estate, and infrastructure. For students in engineering, business, or technology courses, that exposure has real career value.
