CHED Merit Scholarship 2024-2025 program is now open to apply for all eligible and interested incoming first year college students. Recently, the Commission on Higher Education – CHED RO V has made an announcement on Facebook regarding the opening of online application for its CHED Merit Scholarship program.

CHED Merit Scholarship 2024

The Commission on Higher Education Region V – CHED RO 5 is calling in applications from eligible and interested First year college students to apply for its CHED Merit Scholarship program for the school year 2024-2025.

Students from State University (SUCs), Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs) and Private Higher Educational Institutions (PHEIs) are eligible to apply for this scholarship program

Filipino college students who meet the following qualifications and requirements can apply for the scholarship and enjoy its benefits.

Benefits of CHED Scholarship

Following is the list of benefits a CHED scholar is entitled to receive:

State Scholarship Benefits (SUCs/LUCs)

CHED Scholars enrolled in state university, local university and college will receive the following financial assistance as scholarship benefits:

  • FULL SSP – ₱40,000 per semester
  • HALF SSP – ₱20,000 per semester

Private Education Student Financial Assistance (PHEIs)

CHED Scholars enrolled in Private higher educational institutions will receive the following financial assistance as scholarship benefits:

  • FULL PESFA – ₱60,000 per semester
  • HALF PESFA – ₱30,000 per semester
  • FULL PESFA GAD – ₱60,000 per semester
  • HALF PESFA GAD – ₱30,000 per semester

Who can apply for CHED Scholarship

All incoming First year college students who meet the following qualifications can apply for CHED Scholarship:

  1. Student must be a Filipino Citizen
  2. Graduating high school students/High school graduate
  3. Must have a General Weighted Average (GWA) of at least 93% or above.
    • For Full State Scholarship Program(FSSP) and Full Private Education Student Financial Assistance(FPESFA), GWA must be 96 or above
    • For Half-SSP and Half-PESFA, GWA must be at least 93 but not more than 95
  4. Combined annual gross income of parent/s, guardian for CY 2022 does not exceed Four Hundred Thousand Pesos (PhP 400,000.00), or in cases where the income exceeds PhP400,000.00 an applicant must present a written certification or medical findings of illness of a family member, or school certifications of two or more dependents enrolled in college
  5. Avail of only one government funded financial assistance program.

Documentary Requirements

Following is the list of documents required to apply for CHED Merit Scholarship program:

  • Citizenship:
    • Original /Certified true copy of Birth Certificate
  • Academic:
    • Front and back image of the duly certified true copy of High school report card for incoming freshmen students eligible for college (High School Graduate)
    • Front and back image of the duly certified true copy of grades for Grade 11 and 1st semester of Grade 12 for graduating high school students
  • Income: – any of the following:
    • Latest ITR (BIR Form No. 2316 CY 2022) of parents or guardian if employed
    • Certificate of Tax Exemption from the BIR
    • Certificate of Indigency from their Barangay named after the parent/guardian indicating the annual income
    • Certificate/Case Study from DSWD (not the panunumpa)
    • Latest copy of contract or proof of income for children of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) and seafarers.

Scholarship Application Deadline

The online application for CHED Merit Scholarship for Region V is ongoing and open to apply.

The deadline date to apply for CHED Scholarship 2024 CHED RO 5 program is July 15, 2024.
