The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration – OWWA is calling in applications from all eligible college students to apply for EDSP – Education for Development Scholarship Program and CMWSP – Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program for the school year 2024-2025.

OWWA recently shared a post on Facebook, announcing the opening of OWWA EDSP AND CMWSP Scholarship for SY 2024-2025. The post stated that this scholarship is open to all students including New Incoming First-year college students to 2nd-5th year college students.

OWWA EDSP Scholarship program

EDSP means Education for Development Scholarship Program. The OWWA EDSP Scholarship is a scholarship grant given to qualifying dependents of OFWs. This grant is given till the completion of their bachelor course (4-5 years).

Overseas Workers Welfare Administration is in charge of making better the life of OFWs in the Philippines. In order to achieve their goal, the OWWA provides scholarship opportunities to the dependent of OFWs. EDSP program is one of the scholarships provided by OWWA.

There are two main scholarship programs under OWWA EDSP Scholarship program, they are as follows:

  • EDSP 1 – Open to apply for all New Incoming first-year college students
  • EDSP 2 – Open to apply for all 2nd to 5th year college students

Benefits of OWWA EDSP Scholarship

The OWWA EDSP – Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) provides a scholarship grant of ₱60,000.00 per school year.

EDSP is a scholarship grant provided by OWWA for qualifying dependents of OFWs till completion of bachelor course (4-5 years).

The Total number of slots available for EDSP starting SY 2023-2024 is 1600.

Qualifications to apply for OWWA EDSP Scholarship

Following is the list of qualifications required to apply for OWWA EDSP Scholarship 2024:

  • The candidate must be Single.
  • Must be grade 12 graduating student.
  • He or She must be a child of an active OWWA member; or Sibling of a single or married but childless active OWWA member.
  • The applicant must be not more than 21 years old for Incoming 1st year college and 30 years old for 2nd to 5th year college
  • He or She must have a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 80% or its equivalent
  • Must have no failing grades
  • Must be enrolled in a Philippine-based college / university
  • Must submit academic of grades 9, 10, & 11 in ANY of the following official documentary form:
    • Form 137;
    • Form 138; or
    • Transcript of records

List of Documentary Requirements

Here is the list of documents required to apply for Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) Scholarship:

  • An OFW Valid Government Issued I.D.
  • Proof of Grades (Grade 11) i.e. Form 137 / Transcript of Records (TOR), Form 138, or Certificate of Grades
  • 2×2 ID pictures
  • Birth Certificate from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) / Local Civil Registrar (LCR)
  • The Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR) (For Single OFW whose dependent/applicant is the sibling)
  • OFW Declaration of No Child Dependent (For Married OFW but childless)

OWWA CMWSP Scholarship

CMWSP means Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program. The OWWA CMWSP Scholarship is a scholarship grant given to qualifying dependents of OFWs until the completion of 4-5 years baccalaureate course.

OWWA CMWSP program is one of the scholarship programs provided by OWWA. PCSO regulates the funding for this program through a replenishable allocation released to and maintained under a separate account by the OWWA Secretariat.

Benefits of CMWSP Scholarship

CMWSP Scholarship provides a financial assistance with a maximum of ₱60,000.00 per school year until the completion of 4-5 years baccalaureate course in any college/universities within the Philippines.

Qualifications to apply for OWWA CMWSP Scholarship

The qualifications required to apply for OWWA Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program (CMWSP) are as follows:

  • The candidate must be a deserving Migrant Workers (active OFWs) who are not more than 45 years old.
  • He or She must be the Children of active OFWs who are below 21 years old.
  • Must be a should have a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 80% without failing grades or within 20% of graduating class for children of OFW and no failing grades if OFW.
  • The applicant should have an Annual Family gross income of $2,400.00 (₱130,000.00*).
  • He or She must be the Alternative Learning System passers under the Continuing Education Program – Accreditation and Equivalency (A&E) with an average of at least 85% or its equivalent as certified the DepEd Accredited Schools.

Documentary Requirements for CMWSP Scholarship

Below is the list of Documents required to apply for CMWSP Scholarship:

  • 2×2 ID pictures
  • The OFW Passport I.D.
  • Birth Certificate authenticated by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) / Local Civil Registrar (LCR)
  • Form 137/ Certified true copy of Form 138/ Transcript of Records (TOR)
  • Any Proof of Family Income i.e. (Income Tax Return, Pay Slip, Overseas Employment Contract (OEC), and others as applicable

The opening date for the OWWA EDSP and CMWSP Scholarship Online Application is November 20, 2023.

The last date to submit online application for OWWA EDSP and CMWSP scholarship programs is January 15, 2024.
